Hot Brit actor Andrew Garfield is in an enviable position, and it makes him nauseous. The breakout star of ‘The Social Network’ is the new, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and he’s revealing details about landing the role of his career in the new issue of Details, on stands Jan. 18. Watch exclusive footage of his sexy photo shoot! “I see it as a massive challenge in many ways,” the star tells the magazine of taking on the iconic superhero. “To make it authentic. To make the character live and breathe in a new way. The audience already has a relationship with many different incarnations of the character. I do, as well. I’m probably going to be the guy in the movie theater shouting abuse at myself. But I have to let that go. No turning back. And I wouldn’t want to.” Garfield, who was born in Los Angeles, but was brought up in England from the age of four, admits that he doesn’t like to watch his performances on the big screen, and early in his career he even puked right before one of his auditions due to nerves. But after landing the role of his career for the upcoming Spidey reboot directed by ‘(500) Days of Summer’ helmer Marc Webb — even though he was convinced he blew yet another audition — Garfield is primed to take on the Marvel Comics webslinger, having trained hard and even practiced yoga and Pilates. “I want to feel powerful. You don’t just want to be a pack of meat – it has to be an open body. It does something to your psyche, and it does something to the way you move,” he says. “Whenever I have a moment of doubt, I’m very easily to equate it with the character struggle I’m stepping into.” As for the inevitable fame that comes along with being the new Spider-Man, with the untitled reboot scheduled to hit theaters in July 2012, Garfield would actually like to continue being a struggling actor. “I hope I never blow up. I hope that I have to audition for every single job I want,” he says. “I hope that I’m always struggling, really. You develop when you’re struggling. When you’re struggling, you get stronger.”
