Chris Martin took his kids Apple and Moses for a walk in London on Monday. Moses held onto dad’s hand while Apple, looking every bit the Gwyneth Paltrow mini me, took charge of her cute pup’s leash. Chris and Gwyneth both have busy schedules to juggle along with parenthood, including her latest trip to Switzerland. She was back in the UK this weekend to enjoy a fun night out while Chris performed at a birthday party with Coldplay. Chris’s original song for the Country Strong soundtrack didn’t get any Oscars love when the nominations were announced yesterday, but the movie did receive one nod for its title track, “Coming Home,” putting a bright spot in their rough run at the box office.

The Shaved Ape: Steve Jobs and Flash

1272921510 The Shaved Ape: Steve Jobs and FlashThe tech world is buzzing about the letter Steve Jobs wrote about Adobe Flash. I was prepared to do a post slamming Jobs and Apple, based on headlines I had seen — ones mentioning how Apple no longer likes Flash because it’s closed. as a veteran of the PC v. Mac wars of the 1990s, and which are still ongoing, I was going to talk of Apple’s hypocrisy. PCs became dominant because the hardware is open, and Apple filed bankruptcy because Macs are closed.

Dead iPad battery? Apple not replacing, just sends new iPad!

1270289911 Dead iPad battery? Apple not replacing, just sends new iPad! Whoa, Nelly! Isn’t this something? Apple has just posted details on its iPad battery replacement service, which is really not a battery replacement service at all. Check out the company’s opening line:
Now, let’s compare that to the verbiage found in the iPhone’s battery replacement program details:
We can see the puzzled look on your face from here, and we’re sharing in the same disbelief. Apple is actually saying that it won’t bother cracking open your withered iPad, replacing the battery and sending it back your way; instead, you’ll pay $105.95 (including shipping) for a completely different iPad, which certainly has its pros and cons. on one hand, you’re getting a new (or potentially refurbished, actually) iPad in around “one week,” but on the other, you’ll be waving goodbye to every morsel of personal data on the device that you send in — unless you backup beforehand, of course. Here’s Apple’s take on answering “will the data on my iPad be preserved?”
Lovely, don’tcha think? Head on past the break for the full text.
